For several months in 2020, Kenyans followed the shocking story of Julius Wambua Musyoki who had allegedly been set up by his wife, accusing him of sexually abusing their then 16-year-old daughter Dorcas Mwende.

However, Wambua’s now-adult daughter set the ground for his release following her confession that her mother coached her to lie to send Wambua to prison.

When he was eventually released on bail following sustained followup after his story ran on Citizen TV, Wambua found he had lost everything. Luckily, Kenyans were there to help him start over

The first to extend a kind gesture to Wambua was a politician and former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Kalembe Ndile who graciously offered Wambua two acres from his parcel of land in Kibwezi.

Wambua was on Thursday hosted on Radio Jambo’s Bustani la Massawe, by radio queen Massawe Japani where he emotionally narrated how traumatizing it was for him listening to his own child narrate a “cooked up” story over how he molested her.

Asked if he and the daughter locked eyes during the cross-examination and evidence production in court, Wambua said he felt so ashamed and humiliated to look her in the face given it was his daughter and the things she was saying were weighty.

“Niliona aibu sana kwamba mimi ninaweza kumnajisi mtoto wangu…” ( I was humiliated and ashamed and asked God why he allowed me to go through such an ordeal.
