Three officers working in the development treasury offices of the constituency of Tiaty was arrested Friday evening in connection with a recent attack by cattle rustlers in Baringo County that killed more than 10 people.

The officers were arrested by police at a hotel in Nyahururu where they were reportedly on their way to Nakuru to show their solidarity with Tiaty MP William Kamket, who is expected to report to the DCI offices in connection with the attack.

The officials include Timothy Lokipet, Tiaty constituency parliamentary affairs officer, Duncan Repep who is Churo Ward manager and Apuwatt Festus.

According to Nyahururu sub-county police commander Geoffrey Mayiek, citizens alerted security officials about the officers in the area.

The officers were arrested a few hours after the release of a doctor’s report on the cause of the deaths of six people who were killed after being tortured by unknown individuals in Arabal.

That is happening as some leaders in Baringo County have backed an ongoing security operation in the Kapedo area on the border between Baringo and Turkana counties.

Officials said the operation would restore order and urged residents to co-operate with government officials to crack down on criminals.

Led by Tenges ward representative Silas Tochim, the leaders reiterated their support for the operation, saying they were ready to provide any assistance in ensuring stability and peace in the area.

Tochim claimed that there are some organizations that have been funding lawlessness for the purpose of taking advantage of the historical resources and resources available in the area.
