Three foreign nationals are caught with fake money Ruiru


Three foreign nationals have been arrested with counterfeit notes worth about 362 million shillings, as well as counterfeit gold mines in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Detectives from DCiru’s Ruiru offices raided the residence of one of the suspects in the BTL area on the outskirts of Ruiru town last evening, where they arrested the three.

The suspects were Paulin Francis Proper, 44, Njikam Omar, 37, Job Kentong, 31, all Cameroonians.

Detectives found the money stored in metal boxes and wallets, in foreign currencies including US dollars, British pounds and also Kenyan shillings.

Various devices were also seized, including a dollar printing press that is believed to be used to counterfeit counterfeit currency.

The DCI chief in Ruiru sub-county, Cyrus Ombati, told reporters that his officers also found 250 kilograms of gold and 70 gold trees.

Ombati said the officers had been informed of foreigners engaging in counterfeit money printing in the Ruiru area.

The suspects have been remanded in custody to assist police in further investigations.
