Chairman of the Teachers Association of High Schools and Higher Education Institutions (KUPPET) Omboko Milemba has called for a debate among teachers, students and parents to end violence in educational institutions.

Omboko said the burning of schools, student violence and hatred against teachers stemmed from lack of good relations between student unions and other stakeholders.

Speaking to reporters at the agricultural exhibition ground in Nakuru during the 2021 KUPPET branch elections, Milemba called on school councils and parents to work together to achieve key control measures following the COVID-19 disaster.

In addition, Milemba advised against reversing corporal punishment in schools, saying it was illegal as it was a form of excessive use of force against students.
