The Kenya Ports Men’s Volleyball Team (KPA) has been congratulated for finishing fifth in the recently concluded African Volleyball Club Championship in Tunisia.

Acting CEO of KPA Eng. Rashid Salim said the Authority was proud of the team finishing in fifth place with respect to the 16-team competition.

“I have to commend the team for putting up a strong fight despite participating in continental competitions for the first time,” said Eng. Salim.

Tunisia’s Esperance won the men’s tournament after beating defending champions Zamalek of Egypt 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-10).

The KPA took fifth place in the girls’ campaign after placing port-men from Port Douala (PAD) from Cameroon 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19) in the classification match.

The team played a total of six matches, winning four and losing two. For the first time KPA beat APR (Rwanda) 3-2 before losing to finalists Esperance 3-0.

The Dockers advanced to win the Rwandan Rukinzo 3-0 but lost by the same difference as the defending champions and lost to Zamalek of Egypt

Kenya was also represented by the Local Champions Service Unit (GSU who finished seventh
