The National Assembly is scheduled to resume its sessions on Tuesday, May 4, with the Senate organizing special sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

During the press release, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka said the move was aimed at ensuring that every Senator is given the opportunity to contribute to the debate, before a vote is taken.

In addition, the Senate is expected to discuss the decision to remove Wajir County Governor Mohammed Abdi from office.

On Thursday, Speaker Lusaka received a notification from the Wajir County Assembly Speaker about the decision by ward representatives to remove the governor.

On Tuesday last week, 37 out of 47 ward representatives in the Wajir County legislature voted to remove the governor, alleging misconduct, abuse of power and violation of the constitution.

Senators will decide whether to form a 11-member committee to investigate allegations against Governor Mohammed Abdi, or to hear such allegations before a session of all Senators.
