The 2021/2022 budget estimates are presented to parliament


Finance Minister Ukur Yatani has submitted a budget estimate of 3.6 trillion shillings for 2021/2022 for parliamentary debate.

In a statement, Yatani said he also presented to parliament a 2021 financial bill in line with public finance management legislation.

The budget estimate of 3.632 trillion shillings is aimed at stimulating the economy due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 epidemic.

Shs 26.6 billion has been allocated for the post-corona economic recovery program while shillings 135.3 billion has been set aside for the four main development agendas.

The government, parliament and the judiciary have been allocated 1.879 trillion shillings, 37 billion and 17 billion respectively.

The 2021 fiscal bill also aims to amend the levies levied on various sectors such as VAT.

Yatani also proposed the removal of tariffs on respiratory and other medical products in an effort to strengthen the health sector while contributing to the creation of more employment opportunities for young people.
