Test 735 for Covid-19 as 20 failed – KBC


Kenya recorded 735 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday from a sample size of 5,758 tested in the last 24 hours.

The country’s positive rate is at 12.8%.

The number of confirmed cases in Kenya is now 160,053 from an additional 1,675,310 trial conducted since March.

In the new cases, 634 are Kenyans while 101 are foreigners while 429 are men while 306 women were confirmed to be infected.

The youngest is an eight-month-old baby while the oldest is 97 years old.

224 patients have recovered from the disease, 177 from the Home Care Program, while 47 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of survivors is 108,789 out of which 79,234 are from Home Care and Isolation while 29,555 are from health facilities.

Twenty patients have been infected with the virus at the same time. The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 now stands at 2,744.

A total of 1,304 patients are currently being treated at various health facilities across the country while another 6,648 are in Home Isolation and Care.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 188 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 31 are on respiratory support, and 113 are on oxygen supplement and 44 patients are on screening.

Another 137 patients have been deprived of extra oxygen and 130 of them have been admitted to general wards. Seven patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The Ministry of Health has so far vaccinated a total of 884,858 people against Covid-19 disease nationwide.

Of these 515,288 are 58 years of age and older, 157,967 Health Workers, 137,348 Teachers while 74,272 Security Officers.
