A veteran politician and former Uasin Gishu farmer, Mzee Kibor was baptized today, May 3, at the Boma Inn Hotel in Eldoret, announcing that he had lived a new life and forgotten his old ways.

The baptism took place in the hotel’s swimming pool. The ceremony was presided over by the retired Bishop of the African Inland Church (AIC) Silas Yego.

Attending were members of Mzee Kibor’s family, as well as his children, and a few close friends.

The 87-year-old farmer told reporters that he felt old enough and decided to get baptized.

“The two things that compelled me to take this bold step were that one, I am now an elder and have not yet been baptized, but I am a Christian and a staunch supporter of the AIC.

“The second reason is that we must be prepared because you do not know when your time to leave the world will come,” he said.

Kibor, who is best known as the chairman of the men’s conference, urged more youths to follow in his footsteps and be baptized.

“I am the chairman of everything, so I know better and when I say that you must be ready and accept baptism and be saved, then I know that it is all right,” he said.

The right-wing pastor Yego was pleased with Kibor’s decision, saying that he was now a changed man.

“The Bible says that a saved person must be baptized. Today, we have followed the Bible’s direction, ”he said.
