Emadau Tebakol a senior general service unit operations commander who was attached to Kapedo rapid deployment unit base has been finally offered a befitting send-off by the community and his fellow servicemen.

The burial ceremony took place in Aciit village, Teso South sub-county in Busia County.

The 52-year old Tebakol met his untimely death at a bridge in Kapedo after being waylayed by armed bandits. His driver survived the ordeal narrowly with serious gunshot wounds.

Autopsy report of the body of the slain officer revealed that he died of a gunshot wound on the head. A single bullet shattered Tebakol’s lower and upper jaws consequently damaging the brain. Another bullet was lodged in his body after entering through the right leg.

Tebakol’s body was flown into the family compound aboard a police helicopter yesterday morning with all burial preparations already finalized.

Hundreds of the late’s colleagues in the dreaded rapid deployment unit graced the occasion, colouring the whole compound jungle green.

He was eulogized as a hero who paid the ultimate price for the sake of the country’s safety.

He is survived by a second wife and five children. His first wife died in 2004 and he later remarried his current wife Sarah Wambululu in 2007. May his soul rest in peace.
