Oparanya says in order to win the presidential election, leaders need to organize talks with other leaders with the same vision and form a coalition.

Oparanya, who submitted his nomination papers for the ODM party ticket, said he had been a loyal supporter of Raila Odinga since joining politics and expressed his hope that Raila would support him.

“Raila Odinga is our leader and I have been behind him all these years. But there comes a time when even when you are young you tell the old man that I am enough to have my own home, ”said Oparanya.

The governor, who is also the deputy leader of the ODM party, said he would continue to meet, consult and exchange ideas with other leaders regardless of their political affiliation.

“Talking to someone is not supportive. “Sometimes you just go and listen to him and if you are looking for a seat until you talk to everyone see if he can support you,” the governor added.

This comes amid pressure from the Coast region for Raila to support Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Joho is also ODM’s running mate and submitted his bid for the 2022 presidential ticket.
