Some ODM lawmakers have now warned that hostilities between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are a serious threat to the nation’s security.

Led by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, the MPs called on Deputy President William Ruto to support the BBI process led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, otherwise he would resign.

They also hoped that county legislatures in the Nyanza area would approve the BBI bill within the next five days.

They said the constitutional amendment was aimed at strengthening services for Kenyans among other leadership issues.

They pointed out that there are plans to ensure that the proposed amendments to the BBI’s administrative and legislative bill are finalized before March.

They added that a referendum could be held in the middle of this year. The leaders had attended the inauguration of a police station and a chief’s camp in Sidindi, the Ugenya constituency of Siaya county.
