“I do not need to comment further on the question of whether Judge Koome’s reputation has been tarnished in the minds of Kenyan social activists: JSC commissioners, judges, court officials and lawyers.

“It is unfortunate that after praising the almighty for his rise to the pinnacle of the legal profession, he seems to be starting off with a bad record.

Earlier, LSK had challenged Koome’s ability to be the country’s chief justice. The LSK questioned Koome’s previous cases on the grounds that he could not act impartially and without good intentions.

Some of the cases mentioned include; National Board of Grain and Production against Erad Suppliers and Major Contractors Limited, a decision that has not been made on the night of the Court of Appeal on October 25, 2017.

Havi accused Koome of not being transparent or responsible as a judge.

“He is determined to ensure that no one questions his conduct even before his appointment is approved by the national assembly,” Havi said.

Koome is expected to make history as the first female chief justice after being appointed by the Judicial Service Commission for the post after a two-week interview process.

He is due to be questioned by lawmakers on Thursday, May 13 after President Uhuru Kenyatta submitted his name for review and approval.
