The ministry will resume normal services on Wednesday, April 28, via a digital platform.

Digital migration is intended to address cases of land-based fraud, and service delivery delays. This means that several patents will be deleted and replaced with new ones.

Karoney confirmed that the transition is aimed at complying with the Land Registration Act 2012, a law that sought to demolish land registration processes in repealed land tenure laws into one.

Previously, land registration processes were governed by five laws: Indian Property Transfer Act 1882, State Land Act (Chapter 280), Deeds Registration Act (Chapter 281), Land Deeds Act (Chapter 282), and a registered Land Act (Chapter 300).

In addition, the land ministry set up a forum for public participants, who felt overwhelmed by the new changes, to lodge a complaint.

The complaint would be lodged at the Customer Care Center within the Ministry’s offices at Ardhi House, 1 Ngong Avenue, Nairobi.

Karoney confirmed that the ministry is committed to ensuring a positive change in the digital system in order to serve Kenyans.

“I want to assure the owners of land and property as well as the general public that the ministry is taking great care to protect property rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya and the laws governing land management and management in Kenya,” Karoney vowed.
