The three newly constructed fire stations in Nairobi are set to be commissioned before the end of May this year.

Nairobi Devolution Executive Veska Kangogo said this will enhance its response to the disaster and emergencies in the city.

The three fire stations according to Kangogo are located on Kangundo road, Ruaraka and Waithaka were completed over a year ago but their commissioning has stalled.

“The construction of the three fire stations began in April 2018 and they were to be launched in September 2019,” Kangogo said.

The three fire stations will add to the two currently operating in Nairobi. The two functional stations are the Khoja fire station along Tom Mboya and another at Industrial Area which was built before Kenya got Independence in 1963.
