Motorists in Nairobi are Ditching Fuel Cars for New Electric Vehicle Models




For many years now, we are used to seeing fuel cars in Kenya. It was rare to see an electric vehicle on our roads. However, motorists are changing their taste to electronic cars in Nairobi, which is gradually picking pace. This is in the effort to embrace clean energy and restrain environmental pollutions through emissions.

According to the Kenyan government reports, it plans to have about 5% of registered electronic vehicles come 2025. In 2019, the country only had 300 electric cars. Based on Charles Kaloki, a Nairobi motorist explained his reasons for opting for the new model claiming it is easy to charge it and save on fuel, which sometimes becomes expensive.


Kaloki’s conversion of his car to electric was supervised by Nopea in Nairobi. It started operations in 2018 and it has charging stations in areas like The Hub in Karen andTRM.
