The solution called Bloom-Learn, which is an innovation with a team of five students from Kenya and Nigeria, allows teachers to upload lessons, create live sessions with students, and communicate with students through a discussion forum.

The Bloom-Learn platform is designed to provide digital solutions to overcome barriers to education in the region.

The innovation is informed by the desire to address educational challenges such as the lack of qualified teachers, equipment, and infrastructure especially in public schools due to poor funding.

The Bloom-Learn platform aims to transform education to ensure everyone has access to learning opportunities.

Dr Bitange Ndemo says higher education institutions have been moving away from traditional classes, lectures and completing semester exams and following other teaching methods for students.

Microsoft has challenged five members of the winning team comprising Kenyan and Nigerian students to continue to improve their creativity until they become commercially great.

Now in its second year, the Student Game competition is a 5-week hackathon where by the end of the fifth week the participating teams present their final projects for judging.
