Speaking at the State House on Saturday during the Labor Day celebrations, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered all educational institutions at all levels to be reopened according to the Ministry’s calendar.

“That all our educational institutions at all levels of learning will be reopened in accordance with the calendar issued by the Ministry of Education,” he said.

The Head of State called on Kenyans to ensure they increase their protection against Covid-19 in compliance with protocols issued by the Ministry of Health.

“As we prepare for the opening of the school, let me reiterate that our resilience in the fight against this scourge is our greatest weapon,” he said.

“I say that, because, if public response to health protocols goes up, then the likelihood of multiplying preventive measures is imminent. The country said.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha had earlier indicated that schools would reopen for the third term on May 10 as planned.

“I hope as it looks like the epidemic will change, there is no need for me to call stakeholders as the schedule can remain the same throughout the year,” he said.

CS denied allegations that the opening dates for primary and secondary schools could change over the third Covid-19 wave in the country.

CS Magoha said the government was monitoring the Covid-19 infection rate and would advise on opening schools.
