Kisumu County to organize this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations

Speaking while inspecting the ongoing renovation work at the stadium, the chairman of the national festival organizing committee and secretary in the security ministry, Dr Karanja Kibicho, said the 600-million-dollar stadium is expected to be completed by mid-May to prepare. on that occasion.

The construction of the Mamboleo road which is part of the 63 km road of Mamboleo, Miwani towards Chemelil, Muhoroni and Kipsitet is already under construction at a cost of 4.9 billion shillings before the ceremony.

Due to Covid-19 disease regulations, Kibicho said the event would be organized online where only a few invited guests would be allowed to enter the area.

He said residents should monitor the event in designated areas while other Kenyans follow the event on live television broadcasts.

Kibicho said President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga are expected to lead the ceremony.

Since 2015, counties have been organizing national celebrations.
