A riot broke out, forcing the riot police to disperse the crew by firing tear gas and beating some of them.

Nyaoga had resigned after a lengthy suspension by county assembly speaker David Kombo.

He had gone to court where he was acquitted of a situation that caused him to return to work.

Angry workers marched as they demanded to answer the audit report from a committee appointed by the county’s public service board.

Addressing reporters, Geoffrey Ontere called on members of the county legislature to strengthen their oversight responsibilities and take care of public funds.

The workers decided to strike if their grievances were not addressed.

Another employee, Thomas Tong’i, claimed that Nyaoga’s reinstatement was an indication of his indifference to the law.
