Kirinyaga County has taken over 250 acres of confiscated land


The Kirinyaga County government has confiscated 250 acres of land owned by private developers in Sagana.

Governor Anne Waiguru, who spoke at Kagio’s residence when she received the title deed of the Thigirici land, said they had managed to save the land after winning a court case between them and the private builder.

The governor said that the builder had used fraudulent means to acquire large tracts of land belonging to the former Kirinyaga district council, saying the victory was a major step in reclaiming the confiscated public land.

He said the county was also striving to take over 500 acres of confiscated public land in the Ngariama area south.

The land was set aside for the construction of a university, a health center and recreation areas.

The governor said that 250 acres of land near the Sagana railway station would be used to build the industrial area.lassist in boosting the county’s economy and that of the entire mountainous region of Kenya.
