Addressing reporters while receiving a title deed of Thigirici land at his Kagio residence, Governor Ann Waiguru said the recovery of the land was the result of a fierce court battle between the county and a private developer.

The governor said that the private developer had used questionable methods to allocate a large portion of Kirinyaga County Council land, saying that victory was a major step in acquiring public land.

Waiguru said the county was also working hard to acquire more than 500 acres of public land that had been seized from the Ngariama South disputed farm which meant the construction of a University, health center and recreational facilities.

The governor said the 250-acre land adjacent to the refurbished Sagana railway station would be used to set up an industrial garden that would help boost the economy of the county and the vast region of Mt Kenya.

Waiguru noted that the industrial garden would be very helpful in ensuring value addition for the various agricultural products produced in the county, which would be transported by rail to various markets.
