KEBS CEO, Bernard Nziraini, said the new approved standards would provide a basis for ensuring the quality, cleanliness, and safety of food additives.

Nziraini said the use of food additives in food processing is technically inevitable and an emphasis on safe and efficient use, hence the need to establish quality and safety standards.

It is expected that the standards will be used by stakeholders in the food industry as well as quality assurance departments, industry, and laboratories.
