Kenya receives new type of anti-tuberculosis drugs – Radio National

A new drug-resistant tuberculosis vaccine will be launched in February and March this year at low cost in the five most affected countries in Africa.

Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe will be the first of a total of 12 nations to offer the new drug at a cost of 1,647 shillings equivalent to $ 15 courtesy of funding from Unitaid, the president’s emergency response plan. Other states are also expected to receive the drug with the help of the PEPFAR program and the international treasury.

According to Dr. Teresa Kasaeva, director of the International Tuberculosis Program at the World Health Organization, provides adequate treatment for up to three million patients this year.
