Inside of Kenyan newspaper notice on April 26, the Head of State appointed Dr Elizabeth Muli, Gideon Solonka, Awori James Achoka, Elizabeth Odundo Meyo, Dorothy Jemator Kimengech, Father Joseph Ngumbi Mutie, and Dr Farudin Suleiman Abdalla as members of the panel.

The nomination panel is within one week expected to invite applications from qualified candidates for interviews to fill vacancies after which it will publish the names of the applicants in Kenyan newspaper.

The appointment comes just days after the President announced the vacancies left vacant by four IEBC commissioners in 2017 and 2018.

Roselyn Akombe was the first commissioner to leave immediately after the re-run of the October 26, 2017 presidential election.

Vice-chairpersons Consolata Nkatha, Margaret Mwachanya, and Paul Kurgat resigned in April 2018, citing a lack of confidence in the IEBC chairperson.

“Incidents related to the alleged vote (suspension of the CEO) have seriously shaken our weak faith in the chairman,” the commissioners said in a joint statement.

The commission has been working with only three of the top seven commissioners for nearly two years.
