Locals blamed firefighters for not responding quickly when they were called to put out the blaze. They used buckets of water, branches, and soil in an attempt to extinguish the fire and prevent the spread of nearby buildings.

“If firefighters had arrived at the scene in time, other items would have been saved,” another resident pointed out.

Fortunately, there are no reports of deaths or injuries. At the time of publication, the cause of the fire had not yet been established.

In recent weeks, several businesses have been damaged in Kariobangi property in Nairobi following a fire.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault at one of the stations.

In a previous interview, the County Director of Fire and Rescue Services revealed that electrical faults, cooking equipment, cigarettes, domestic violence and improved lighting were the main causes of fire blasts.

“Illegal power outages and loss of connectivity, and the use of crude oil in their stoves are major causes of infernos in slums,” he explained.
