In a letter to Zoo Kericho chairman, FKF Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno said they had implemented the Fifa Disciplinary Committee’s decision against the club by conducting football matches and tournaments.

“Based on the above decision, FKF has expelled your club from the 2020/21 FKF Premier League season and relegated Zoo Kericho FC to the National Premier League (NSL) for the 2021/22 season,” read part of the statement.

According to Fifa, the decision to approve Zoo FC in connection with a series of matches in the Kenyan Premier League was thought to have been rigged between 2018 and 2020 by club owners, as a result of which the club is responsible.

In particular, the Fifa committee found that Zoo FC violated section 8 (Responsibility) and section 18 (Regulation of competitive matches and competitions) of the Fifa Discipline Act.

Zoo FC was ordered to contact Fifa within the next 30 days from the notice of this decision and to implement academic instructions designed to prevent and combat match-fixing and match-fixing fraud.

The team is currently bottom of the league table with eight points from 14 matches. The league will resume on May 12. It was detained after 16 rounds following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order to suspend the games due to an increase in Covid-19 visas. .
