Farmers flocked to Gichiche Stadium in Nyeri County to elect new officers using the ‘one-man-one-vote’ formula which seems to have restored power to them as opposed to when the election of farmers’ representatives was planned and the number of single tea bushes he owned.

Farmers’ lawyer Patrick Ngunjiri said the election was based on the company’s activities and agreement documents and copies of each participating factory.

Kanyago was replaced as the director representing Mumbuini West at the factory level by Mark Mwangi who said that the farmers elected him as they felt unfair to the previous electoral system.
