Ethiopian Airlines Launch Covid-19 Testing at Bole Int’l Airport Station –


The Ethiopian Airlines Group has joined BGI Health Ethiopia, a subsidiary of China’s largest biotech company, BGI Genomics Co, Ltd, to launch a state-of-the-art COVID-19 testing laboratory at its main hub at International Addis Ababa.

A testing center is being opened to revive the passenger business by creating a seamless travel experience that includes COVID-19 testing for passengers leaving or passing through Addis Ababa.

The state-of-the-art COVID-19 testing laboratory is equipped with technological refusals to provide rapid and accurate testing to passengers. Currently, the laboratory has the capacity to perform 1,000 COVID-19 tests per day and the ability to grow further after expansion.

The results of routine tests can be obtained within three hours, resulting in a better travel schedule by reducing the waiting time for testing and collection of results.

The Executive Director of Ethiopian Airports Mr Eskinder Alemu said they set up a testing laboratory within the Addis Ababa hub with the aim of addressing customer challenges in travel and reviving passenger service. Previous or current passengers will not have to search for city testing stations and wait on the COVID-19 testing lines.

The laboratory at the airport eliminates the problem of testing and brings convenience and helps to restore the confidence of passengers in the journey. The facility is the result of a partnership between the Ethiopian and Ethiopian BGI flag bearer towards ensuring passenger safety in accordance with all international requirements.

“We will continue to adapt our operations to the new standard to ensure safe travel for customers and Ethiopians.” he said

In addition to significantly reducing the time and energy spent testing, the launch of an airport testing center will enhance Ethiopian customer service and enhance aviation security measures at and within the airport.
