A man from Murang’a County has ignited heated reactions after he dug his own grave and also wrote his own eulogy.

According to reports by Citizen TV,  Samuel Karanja dug his graveside in a single- roomed cavern and surrounded it with colorful flowers. Interestingly, the elderly man further named his final resting place ‘Kumenya’ meaning ‘knowing’.

Mr. Karanja also printed a photo he intends to be used in the written eulogy and which will also be put on his coffin.

However, he maintained that he did not have any intentions of dying soon but rather wanted to save his family from any funeral trouble when he finally passes on.

Karanja challenged people to embrace his moves and spare their families the bother that comes with the demise of a loved one.

“I do not want to bother people at my funeral, most people bother people with their demise but that will not be me” he said.

According to Karanja’s close relatives, he is not strange to controversies. His wife mentioned to Innoro TV that the older man doesn’t wear a shirt even in freezing cold weather.

“He never wears a shirt, he says he hates warmth and even when he is working in the shamba, you will see him shirtless” she said.
