Defending champions Al Ahly take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals of the African Champions League


Defending champions African Caf champions Al Ahly from Egypt will face Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the quarter-finals of the cup.

Ahly, the nine-time winner of the trophy and coached by former Mamelodi coach Pitso Mosimane, will start at home between May 14 and 15 with a return to South Africa a week later.

Mc Alger of Algeria will face Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, Esperance of Tunisia will play Cr Belouizdad of Algeria while the only East African representatives Simba Sports club from Tanzania will end their feud with Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa.

The quarter-finalist between Ahly and Mamelodi plays in the semi-finals against the winner between Belouizdad and Esperance while the winner between Simba and Kaizer Chiefs competes with the winner between MC Alger and Wydad Casablanca.

The winner of the cup will qualify to represent Africa at the World Cup between clubs later this year.
