COVID-19: The Ministry of Health announces 194 new cases from 1,779 samples


The Ministry of Health has confirmed 194 new cases from 1,779 samples over the past 24 hours, with an infection rate of 10.9 percent.

The total number of cases of infection has reached 156,981 people and increased the number of those tested to 1,646,988 people.

Of those surveyed 184 are Kenyans while 10 are foreign nationals, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. The number of infected men is 105, with 89 females.

The youngest patient is a nine-year-old child and the highest child is a 90-year-old.

The new cases are recorded in the various counties as follows; Nairobi 115, Kiambu 12, Uasin Gishu 11, Kajiado 9, Embu 8, Kitui 8, Kericho 7, Machakos 6, Trans Nzoia 3, Nakuru 3, Nandi 2, Homa Bay 2, Kilifi 2, while Kisii, Murang’a, Narok , West Pokot, Kakamega and Bomet reporting the same incident.

248 patients have recovered, 218 are from home care and 30 are from various hospitals. The total number of survivors has now reached 106,836.

However, another 21 patients have died and increased the total number of COVID-19 disasters to 2,643.

To date, 1,417 patients have been admitted to various hospitals in the country with 6,959 under house care. 205 patients have been admitted to intensive care units, 42 of whom are on respirators and 133 are receiving oxygen.

To date the Ministry of Health has successfully vaccinated a total of 826,617 people against the disease since the operation was launched, 477,754 of them aged 58 or older.
