Veteran American actor and Hollywood actress Cicely Tyson has passed away at the age of 96. Her death occurred on Thursday 28 January 2021 according to US national time.

His longtime manager Larry Thompson confirmed to CNN the seas without mentioning the cause of his death.

Cicely recounted his long acting career in a book titled “Just As I Am” which was launched on Tuesday this week, a few days before his death.

Tyson well represented black American women who wanted to be recognized and respected through a number of acting roles that she performed.

She acted as a mother, as a former slave, and acted as a human rights defender among many other tasks she performed.

Some of the films she starred in were “Sounder” of 1972, “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman” of 1974, “Roots” of 1977, “The Marva Collins Story” of 1981, “The Women of Brewster Place” of 1989 and “The Help” of 2011.

Even after achieving such success in acting, his main goal was to be crowned with independence by President Barack Obama in 2016.

He said it was a great honor for him to remember that he was brought up in eastern New York, a place called El Barrio and from there until he arrived at the White House to be welcomed by the first black President and to be crowned is a great honor.

Cicely Tyson was born on December 19, 1924, in New York.
