Call for Independence by British Prime Minister Boris –

President Uhuru Kenyatta and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday agreed to raise $ 5 billion (Sh540 billion), an education fund needed to get 175 million children in schools worldwide.

The two spoke by telephone ahead of the International Conference on Education which Kenya and the UK will participate in July.

In their 45-minute telephone conversation, the two leaders also talked about Kenya-UK cooperation in the fight against Covid-19, climate change and, regional security and peace.

In a statement to the newsroom, White House spokesman Kanze Dena said the President and Prime Minister were exploring new ways of co-operation in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

This includes research to identify new viral mutations and faster access to vaccines.

President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Johnson also expressed concern over the political situation in Somalia, and decided to work more closely with the UN Security Council, the Commonwealth and other international forums to ensure peace and stability in the region. .

On climate change, the President and the Prime Minister exchanged pre-COP26 exchange notes in Glasgow and explored opportunities for cooperation in areas such as renewable energy where Kenya is the story of African success.

The long call reportedly caused President Kenyatta’s motorcade to stop while senior handcuffs waited at Ardhi House.

The Head of State was on his way to launch Ardhisasa, a digital resource management system, to increase record security, speed up operations and control fraud in the Ministry of Lands.
