World champion and world record holder in the 3000m steeplechase and waterfront Beatrice Chepkoech, has set a new world record in the 3rd edition of the Herculis Monaco Run 5 km race in France early Sunday.

Chepkoech completed the 14-minute and 44-second road race and equalized for Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands registered in 2019 at the Herculis race.

The 29-year-old Chepkoech endured the cold and finished first in the men’s and women’s race running together.

“I am very happy because I did not expect to break the world record, next week I will go to Toluose and I also plan to participate in the Monaco of the Monaco Diamond league in July before going to the Olympics” said Chepkoech

It will be the second world record for Chepkeoch aside from that of the 3000 meters steeplechase and 8 minute water 44 seconds 32 points he registered in the city of Monaco in 2019.

The men’s race was won by Wave Joshua Cheptegei who retained his crown when he finished with 13 minutes and 14 seconds.

Second place went to Kenya’s Betwel Birgen for 13 minutes and 15 seconds while Davies Kiplangat also from Kenya emerged third with 14 minutes and 16 seconds.
