Labeled Truck House, the residence is one of a kind in Kenya due to its unusual position on the truck.

Speaking to kenyagist.com, a journalist-homeowner explained that he wanted to create an experience that was unique to his home, at the intersection of the Congregation, Machakos County.

“At first I wanted to build a container at home but later I decided to get a truck and build next to it instead,” he explained.

The message, which began with a search on social media, ended at a car park in Thika where he set his eyes on an old government truck and immediately placed a deposit before Machakos was abducted.

The construction of the two-story building took six months using the advance panels which he found to be affordable and fast.

Although the house looks small from the outside it has a number of interesting features including a large screen, a bedroom on the loft, and a barbecue area.

The plot has a small pond and with the head of a truck, Wafula explained, that he had plans to turn it into an office.

He informed that during construction, the project raised questions from his neighbors who wondered why he was building a house on a truck.

“Everyone who came there thought I was crazy. The neighbor even offered to give me two containers so that I could build a house instead of a truck, ”he revealed.

The journalist added that with the construction of the highway, it would be easier to travel from home to the Nairobi CBD.

In addition to moving home, Wafula has a plan to venture into the Airbnb business where he will lease public space for Ksh8,000 per night.
