AK-47 Guns Arrested As Robbers Involve Police In Gun War

Police in Laikipia County have seized two AK-47 rifles and 13 rounds of ammunition after heavy gunfire by robbers in Ng’arua area.

One of the robbers, who was on a robbery mission, was badly shot during the incident Friday night.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI, the perpetrators had been spotted by night watch officers, from the Elite Heads of Service (GSU).

“The dispute followed a raid by robbers at the Kamwenje shopping center in Ng’arua, which left two shops broken into and items of unknown value stolen,” DCI said in a statement on Saturday night.

Police believe the few robbers who managed to escape under the darkness received gunshot wounds.

The officers have launched a manhunt for criminals known to intimidate locals.

“Our officers are on fire on their way and have thrown their nets wide, to nearby health centers and surrounding hospitals where the robbers are believed to be seeking treatment for their injuries,” added DCI.

Locals have been urged to donate information that could lead to the arrest of armed men.
