In a statement in the official gazette on Monday evening, President Kenyatta appointed Dr. Elizabeth Muli, Gideon Solonka, Elizabeth Meyo, Dorothy Kimengech, Rev. Joseph Ngumbi, and Dr. Faradim Abdalla to serve on the panel.

The president announced the vacancies on April 14, 2021.

The panel is expected to invite graduates to serve as commissioners of the commission to submit their applications and also to publish their names in the official gazette as well as two daily newspapers as well as on the commission’s website for hiring public servants.

The panel will evaluate the application and recommend the candidates.

For almost three years the IEBC commission has been running its operations with only three commissioners instead of seven following the resignations of commissioners Connie Nkatha Maina, Margaret Mwachanya and Paul Kurgat.

The IEBC also currently has no chief executive officer following the departure of Ezra Chiloba.
