7 Journalists Continuing Injuries After Embu County Police Attack –

7 journalists suffer serious injuries sustained as a result of police beatings during the Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA) demolition in Mbeere, Embu County.

The journalists were arrested along with Mbeere South MP Geoffrey King’ang’i but were released on Saturday night.

Describing the activities that led to their arrest, journalists have revealed that they were prevented from completing the demolition and were attacked while performing their duties.

They also accuse police officers from Kiritiri police station of withholding p3 forms when they went to report the attack from the police.

Journalists recall that despite showing officers their badges, they were simply ignored before being later attacked.

The TARDA demolition that took place over the weekend left more than 5,000 families homeless in the midst of the tragedy.

Residents revealed that bulldozers were used to demolish the houses under the strict protection of police officers on vehicles with hidden numbers.
